Sri Tanjung Pinang - Straits Quay

Recently, Straits Quay has been a "hot" places for all the photographer. Photos about Stratis Quay is everywhere on blogs and facebook. So, I also join in the crowd and give it a visit just before the department annual dinner.

It is not really a very huge building, to say it as a shopping mall, it looks more like a modern port where allowed yacht to park with maybe studio suite available for rent and some shops, bistro and a street performance area.

The whole Straits Quay is covered in white (same as the E&O Hotel), the shopping area is not very tall, but the building is pretty wide and long. The main sign is nice and the ceiling is high, which makes the area looks spacious. As it is near the Christmas, a nice and tall Christmas tree is being setup.

There are 2 parking lots, one each on the left end and the right end of the building. Currently the left side of the building is still under construction, so it is the best to park at the right side car park (most of the people park there, only noob like me park at the left side).

Another shot on the front entrance. The nice "Straits Quay" sign is hanging high up...

Shots from the inside towards outside at the main entrance area.

Closer shot towards the christmas tree, there is a stage setup for performance. I like the arc and light...

Closer shot at the light (only using the 50mm lens, shows that the lamp is really huge!).

Love this shots......:)

Christmas tree!

Some random shots around christmas tree...

I always like christmas tree as I can see lots of lots of nice and cute reflection from the crystal ball. :P

Main entrance to the shopping area, it seems like the upper area is some studio suite or hotel room.

Nice ceiling light in the center of the shopping area.

Nice decoration for each of the light in the building.

EOS 60D Firmware Update Version 1.0.8

Canon has release a new firmware just after around 1 month I have my new toy -> 60D. The new version number is 1.0.8 with the following fixes stated on Canon website:

  1. Fixes a phenomenon in which captured images may become overexposed when using the camera's built-in flash or an external Speedlite in combination with the lenses listed below:*
  2. a) EF300/4 L IS USM b) EF28-135/3.5-5.6 IS USM c) EF75-300/4-5.6 IS USM d) EF100-400/4.5-5.6 L IS USM
Firmware version 1.0.8 is for cameras with Firmware Version 1.0.5. If the camera's firmware is already Version 1.0.8, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

As my camera come with firmware version 1.0.5, so I had update it to 1.0.8 as having the latest firmware version in my camera always sounds cool (eventhough I don't own any of the lenses stated in the release). :P

So, if you ask me what kind of changes I can feel after the update -> nothing. :P

Canon 50mm f1.8 II - My another new toy...

Well, basically I owned this lens before (after that sold it off to one of my friend since it was under utilized). I had never be a fans of prime lens until recently acquired the Canon 100mm f2.8 USM. When I compare the IQ between the 100mm prime with my 18-200mm IS, I had keep my ultra zoom lens in the dry box and try to take photo using the 100mm.

The only problem is that 100mm is really long, especially for indoor portrait shots, so my hands itchy again and go back and get the 50mm again...:P

Some photos with the lens:

Nice, nice, nice......now I only use 50mm and 10-22mm USM to take photo. :P
