Penang Georgetown - Peranakan Mansion (2nd visit)

It is always one of my objective to revisit Peranakan Mansion in Georgetown, Penang with my Canon 350D. Since my parents is visiting my house, it is good timing for me to revisit the place.

This time, I try to take a closer look at the house design and decoration and searching for something that I had miss out during the previous trip.


This is the card game that famous among the Nyonya.

This is the traditional "Ais Kacang" ice blending machine, really hard to see one nowadays.


British style tea cup.


Another British style tea cup. As the new generation of Baba are mostly English educated, their living style are lean towards British style, that's why there are lots of Europe style decoration, furniture and clothes around the house.







Traditional medicine shop setup:



This is the storage used to store all kinds of traditional medicine. This shot is a closeup shot, the wooden storage is actually around 2m in height and around 4m wide.

Wood carving on the door.


Bronze lion statue.


Wood carving on the main wooden beam which support the house. The bird carving can be seen usually on the high horizontal beam across the living room.

The painting on the wall is the owner of the house.


This is the walkway of the first floor, the center area is the opening to let the sunlight pass through to light up the house.

For those that who wish to visit the place:
The mansion is open to public everyday from 9.30am to 5.00pm (including public holiday). The admission fees are RM10.00 for adults. Children below 6 years old is free to enter the venue.
